UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) is a device that supplies power in a form of battery back up, in situation of sudden power outage. UPS power supply provides numerous benefits for electronic devices used in both business and home use. This kind of supply protects computers and electronic systems from damages caused by short power outages. To make it more clear, The UPS will enable your computer to continue working for several minutes after the unexpected power outage, this way it gives you the chance to save data and to shut down the computer safely. The UPS contain software component that provides automatic back up and safely shutting down the computer system, in cases of sudden power failure in situation when you are not in front of the computer. There are two types of Uninterruptible Power Supply systems: on-line UPS systems and standby power systems (SPSs). The standby power systems (SPSs) switches to battery power immediately after a problem is detected. These systems monitor the power line and supply back up power in cases when a sudden outage occurs, on the other side, the on-line UPS provide continuous power supply even when the line is functioning properly. For the aforemenitoned reason, there is no doubt that the UPSs are much more expensive than the stand by UPS, therefore the stand by UPS has many advantages over the on-line UPSs. Another advantages of stand by UPS are: High efficiency – The stand by UPS, also known as offline UPS, feature high level of efficiency which amounts up to 97%. For this reason, the stand by UPS is most common used for providing power supply for personal computers and is also used for office supply. The feature that enables providing back up power only when it is required, is always a reason plus to choose a stand by UPS. Small size – The stand by UPS, is available in small and compact sizes which is important when there is no big space available. It's compact size makes the stand by UPS first choice when it comes to supplying computers in home use. Low Cost – Not only the stand by UPS offers higher level of efficiency in comparison to the on-line UPS, it can also be purchased for lower price. Thus the stand by UPS have lower operating costs and are more reliable source of back up power. Another important features of stand by UPS are: greater power quality and smaller footprint than the on-line UPSs. The key features of stand by UPS enable protection against data loss or corruption, damaging the electronic equipment and prevents disrupting of the IT operations. These systems can also provide adequate noise filtration and surge suppression. Furthermore, the stand by UPS prevent possible financial lose, rescheduling and canceling important appointments as well as preventing potential liabilities.

It's great to learn that you can use an uninterruptible power supply to provide power to your electronic devices using a battery that activates when a power outage happens. I should share this with my friend, who's looking for something that allows him to save his computer work if ever that happens. I'll be sure to recommend this to him as soon as we meet again.
